Moonshine

Tonight we were invited to Jeff's parents home for dinner to celebrate Memorial Day. Jeff's brother's family was also invited to attend. Eric and Carolyn brought their daughter, Savannah, as well as Carolyn's dad, Dwayne, who is visiting for the weekend. We got to Grandma & Grandpa's house a little earlier than everyone else and enjoyed some fun time playing with toys and being together. The others arrived and we finished getting dinner ready. Jeff's mother prepared a wonderful meal of BBQ'd spare ribs, homemade zucchini rolls, salad, and some other vegetables. The plan was to eat outside so that we could enjoy a beautiful Sunday evening together. Ahh, it was almost perfect. Except for when Ian knocked Abbey upside the head for getting in his way while he was trying to play. Or when Emma shoved Ian for not listening to her "perfect idea" for a game. OR when Abbey decided that Savannah was in the way and mowed her over to get to something she wanted. The highlight of my night, though, was after we were done eating and everyone was sitting around talking and telling stories. The kids were playing and having a few blessed moments of cooperation with the outside toys. Ian came back up on the deck and Jeff asked him if he'd show everyone the dance he did yesterday, which was HILLARIOUS by the way. Ian said that he would if Jeff would sing. So Jeff started to sing "Popcorn Popping on the Apricot Tree" and Ian started to dance a crazy rythm that was entertaining, to say the least. Then, out of nowhere, he turns around and yanks his pants down! He MOONED everyone! Just my luck, I thought, the one night that my children are right on perfect form (can you hear the sarcasm?) and we have someone with us who isn't used to being around them. Carolyn's dad only has ONE grandchild and she is just turning 2 next week. He has yet to experience the insanity of 3 kids who don't get out much and who are hopped up on grape soda.
