5 degrees. FIVE DEGREES! That's the current temperature outside my front door right now. Five. My kids are supposed to get on the school bus at 7:04 am every day. I understand that the roads are a little snowy - okay, icy - right now and that the bus needs to go a little slower. But shouldn't the bus company have their drivers leave a little earlier so that they can get to the kids and be semi on time? It was 20 minutes late today and the poor kids that were standing outside were jumping up and down to stay warm. We live just far enough away from the stop (and we're just a little lazy and we usually are running just a little late) that we drive the kids and wait with them in the car until the bus shows up. Lucky us! We get to stay warm while the poor kids outside FREEZE to death. Normally I would suggest to the kids and their moms that they just hop right into the burb so we can all be one happy warm family, singing camp fire songs and drinking hot cocoa, but today Jeff needed it to take the Elders to the temple. *sigh* We only had two extra seats (if we squish) and I couldn't ask two kids to come into the car and leave the other four. Hopefully they'll thaw a little on the way to school (if the bus' heater is working) and all of their toes will still be attached when they arrive.
