This weekend the kids got it in their heads that they wanted to write stories. But just writing stories isn't good enough, they have to TYPE them on the computer - because that's the best and most efficient place to do it, apparently. Anyway, I have a 4th grader who can type fairly well (for a 4th grader) and a 1st grader who only has used the computer to play on www.nickjr.com. This did not slow him down, in fact it made him feel like he was quite the expert at computing. Anyway, here's the story (misspellings and all) that he's written so far. Should make you belly laugh. THE EXPLODING COW (By Ian Wixom)
Once there was an exploding cow, well, it means that it kills the villagers and it lives in a cave in a mountain. One day, a perfect idea came to the cow. Down in the village the cow is going to capture the Prince named Prince Bum-Bum and Princess Brain-Brain. That night, the cow snuck down into the village and captured Prince Bum-Bum and Princess Brain-Brain. The next day, a knight came to the village and said to the king I will save the prince and princess but in the cave the cow is starting t-o eat the prince and princess
I think it's pretty obvious that he's a genious in the making. Just saying.

there is a card game called exploding cows. It can me fun. You can find it at a specialty game shop or online. It would be fun to give it to him because of his great story.
