Winter Carnival!!!

We went to the Winter Carnival in McCall, ID on Tuesday and got home yesterday. It was a quick trip but we had fun. For those of you who are unfamiliar with what Winter Carnival is, I will explain. A whole bunch of people in a little resort town use the GINORMOUS piles of snow that the snow plows leave and make them into sculptures. Then crazy people, like us, drive 35 miles per hour on the 2-lane, snow covered highway for 3-4 hours to go and look at them. Also, they have a really good chocolate shop there. Really, we had fun. The kids laughed when Daddy parked the van in a pile of soft snow and had to push it out, they ate really BIG pancakes at the Pancake House and got thrown into snow banks by their Dad too. The theme for the sculptures this year is "The Wild West". There were indians, cowboys, a really cool old train (complete with train tracks and robbers trying to blow it up with TNT), an outhouse and an eskimo. There were several others as well. I'm including the pictures we took, click on the image if it's too small - one of them shows an outhouse that someone made...Abbey crawled under the barricade and tried to pull the door open. I would have taken a picture of her in the act, but thought we were going to be kicked out of the parkinglot any minute by some irate man who'd spent 2 weeks making it.

Ian had preschool today - they were learning the letter H so today was Hero day. All of the kids were supposed to come dressed as a super hero. Ian went as Super Man, of course. There is a new TGI Fridays opening up and they were giving out free meals to people if you were lucky enough to get a reservation. It was so that their staff could practice. I guess the figured that if you're getting the meal for free you won't complain about crappy service. Anyway, we had to pick Ian up from preschool early so we could make our time slot and he was still in his costume. He refused to take it off. We went into the restaurant with his Superman costume on along with his Spider Man moon boots that light up when he walks. We got a lot of stares.
