Roll Models

Ian likes to pretend. Most of the time it's fun to listen and watch him. Sometimes I get a little bit worried because he gets SO involved in what he's doing. Last night we had another movie night with the kids and they chose The Chronicles Of Narnia as the movie. Well, one of the characters in the show is named Peter and he's one of the heroes. Ian decided that he wanted to pretend he was Peter. So when Peter was standing, Ian stood. When Peter sat down, Ian sat down. When Peter was riding a horse holding his sword in the air and charging down the enemy in the final battle, Ian put his arm up in the air and started to gallop around the room. He galloped a lot longer than Peter did. Ian even decided that Jeff was playing the other boy, Edmund. So he told Jeff to stand up or run or gallop whenever Edmond did. It was pretty entertaining, actually. I guess he could have pretended to be the bad guy - that would have been weird. (The "bad guy" is a woman they refer to as the White Witch)
We had our neighbor, Katy, over for dinner tonight. This is the same Katy that is a grandma and that Ian asked when we first moved in if she'd like to come over and play super heroes with him. He has several super hero capes and he wanted a playmate for the day and thought she'd work. Funny!!! We had fun getting to know her better and laughing with her tonight. The children were actually well behaved at the dinner table - no belching or comments about bowel habits tonight. I consider that a major success! Maybe our children will turn out half way civilized after all - I'll keep my fingers crossed for awhile longer though.
Not much else going on. We're getting ready to head up to the winter carnival in McCall in a couple of days. They make lots of snow carvings and sculptures as well as have winter games - I think there are sled dog races and ice carving contests - things like that. It should be fun.
